Helping Hands’ mission is to be the hands of Christ in offering temporary help and support to parishioners in need. It began when a daughter living in Lincoln contacted the parish about reaching out to her mother, who had cancer and was new to Kearney and our parish.
Members especially focus on helping the elderly and those living alone or recovering from surgery by offering meals, visits, cards, minor medical help-care, and doing errands. Additional services include laundry, light yardwork or housekeeping, technical issues, and snow removal on a temporary basis. CONTACT Linda Martin (308-236-6728) with further questions or to join.
Adoration is the soul’s response to Christ’s plea, “Can you not watch one hour with me?” Time for you to be alone with our Lord in silence is offered every Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until midnight and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Mary Chapel, located behind the Tabernacle.
Our prayer is dedicated to our current seminarians and an overall increase in seminarians in our diocese, as well as the fruitful Catholic education of our youth. But, of course, everyone includes their own intentions too! The Host is exposed in a Monstrance, which cannot be left alone.
Parishioners have signed up to arrive every thirty minutes and stay for one hour, so most hours are covered by two people with this overlap. To offer a Holy Hour means to pray, read religious materials, and/or sit silently in meditation with our Lord. Everyone is welcome to stop by during the hours mentioned by entering through the lower-level doors. And, you are encouraged to sign-up for your own hour – you will not regret it!
Becoming a Prayer Warrior through a weekly face-to-face visit is a sure way to strengthen your relationship with Christ! CONTACT Linda Martin (308-236-6728) for more information.
