The Prince of Peace Faith Formation program serves students in Kindergarten through 12th grade from September through May, providing age-appropriate opportunities to learn, grow, and live the Catholic faith. Our elementary program (Kindergarten–5th grade) uses the Faith and Life curriculum from Ignatius Press as its foundation. Middle school students (grades 6–8) participate in the EDGE program, while high school students (grades 9–12) grow in their faith through LifeTeen.
Each program combines solid Catholic teaching with engaging activities, videos, music, discussions, service opportunities, and hands-on experiences that help students encounter Christ in meaningful and memorable ways. Our goal is to present the teachings of the Catholic faith in a way that inspires students to deepen their relationship with Jesus, develop a vibrant prayer life, grow in their understanding of the sacraments, and live as faithful disciples in their daily lives.
In addition to their regular curriculum, students and families participate in special annual themes that highlight important aspects of our Catholic faith. Our elementary program has explored themes such as The Saints, The Rosary, The Bible Timeline, and the Sacred Vessels, Symbols, and People within our Church. Edge and Life Teen have focused on themes including Why We're Catholic, Living Liturgically, and Catholic Social Teaching. These annual themes provide opportunities for students and families to learn together while bringing an added sense of excitement and discovery to the Faith Formation year.
By combining strong Catholic curricula, engaging lessons, and faith-filled themes, our Faith Formation program supports parents in their role as the primary educators of their children in the faith and helps families grow together as disciples of Christ on the journey toward our ultimate goal: Heaven.
Just a reminder: If Kearney Public Schools cancels due to inclement weather, there will be no Religious Education classes that evening. Closings will be announced on local radio and TV stations.
