Baptism

Baptism in Brief

Baptism is the first of the seven Sacraments and the foundation of Christian life. Through Baptism, we are freed from original sin, become sons and daughters of God, are welcomed into the Church, and begin our lifelong journey of faith.

Before His Ascension, Jesus entrusted this mission to His disciples, saying:

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
— Matthew 28:19

At Prince of Peace, we joyfully welcome families who desire the gift of Baptism for their children. Parents are the first teachers of the faith, and Baptism marks the beginning of a child's life in Christ and participation in the Church.

To schedule a baptism, please contact the parish office. Parents are asked to complete a Baptism Information Form and attend a baptism preparation class before the celebration of the sacrament. If the godparents are not registered members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, they will need to obtain a letter from their parish stating that they are practicing Catholics in good standing and are eligible to serve as godparents.

If you are an adult interested in receiving the Sacrament of Baptism or learning more about becoming Catholic, please visit our OCIA page for more information.

Baptism Preparation is offered at 10 am on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Please call the church office to register.
